Dear OCAFC member,

Jason Liu, current President of OCAFC appointed Miriam Yeung (Chair), Pauline Brody and Mary Moy to the Election Committee. 

We encourage you to consider nominating yourself and/or someone else for a position. Nominations close on October 23. You will receive the ballot in the first week of November and elections will be held on November 20 at the Rippowam School, 381 High Ridge Road, Stamford, at 3:30 pm.

Please note, you have to be a paid-up member for 2011 to run for office and to vote. If you are unsure of whether you have paid for this year, please contact Mary Moy.

The Organization of Chinese Americans, Fairfield County Chapter ("OCA-FC") is affiliated with OCA, Inc based in Washington, DC. OCA is a national non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization of concerned Chinese and Asian Americans. It is engaged in organizing over 50 chapters across the nation and its Hong Kong chapter to develop both leadership and community involvement.







OCA's primary objectives include:







Promoting active participation of Asian Americans in both civic and national matters.



Securing social justice, equal opportunity, and equal treatment of Asian Americans.



Eliminating prejudices, stereotypes and ignorance of Asian Americans.



Promoting the cultural heritage of Chinese and other Asian Americans.



OCA-FC serves to promote education, literary, cultural and other activities for the betterment of the Chinese and Asian American communities in southern Connecticut. Some of the exciting projects of OCA-FC are:



Provide community services of raising awareness of social and civic issues and encouraging community participation.



Be an Information Resource through Newsletters, seminars and workshops on issues of concern. Youth Leadership program;



Serve as a Community Liaison through cultural exchange programs with local communities or schools, charitable outreach programs, Scholarship Funds;



Promote Chinese culture through cultural performances, film festivals, cultural exchange programs with local communities;



Coordinate social activities and hobby groups; Picnics, Chinese New Year Celebration, Summer Picnic, Keynote Speaker Forum, Tennis Club, Book Club, Bridge Club, Dining Club.
